In 1972 The Japanese Takimoto Corporation and the Von Schitt Manufacturing Company, Germany came together to initially form the TakiVonSchitt company.
One of the Founding Members Gerhard VonVaughn left in 1989 after an acrimonious dispute over workers rights and demanded his contribution to the name was dropped and thus the TakiSchitt brand was born.
After several years of lobbying by activists the co-founder Hiro Takimoto forced the board to drop many of the more controversial items from its corporate portfolio. In a press release in 1995 he said “The path to true enlightenment lays not in global controversy but in the golden flower of opportunity”.
Shortly after this he tragically died when his golf cart exploded on the 17th tee at Wentworth, scattering balls and clubs across a wide area and unfortunately Mr. Takimoto was struck in the head by a flying 9 iron.
This was not before our glorious corporation diversified out of panda farming, stopped funding oil exploration in the Arctic and sold the entire fleet of whaling vessels to concentrate on posters, giftware and apparel, or “merch” as it now referred to.
This has since been the mainstay of our operations, all apart from one short lived foray into Betamax video distribution service in the mid eighties and working with Sir Clive Sinclair on the upgraded C5 personal transport, the C5.1 as it was code named.
The company rose like the phoenix from the courtroom ashes and was to go on to bigger and better things. Stronger, leaner and more focused the organisation was determined to provide value to its stockholders, many of whom moved to China, Brazil, Russia and Chile after the war.Â
Fun fact: The original 25 stockholders are known as the “Brothers Grin” as they did like a laugh and were known for their humorous outbursts during board meetings. One time even going so far as to stop proceedings for several rounds of “Quietschen das Schwein, Quietschen!”. Nowadays such proceedings are confined to the car park after gatherings of the new board and stakeholders.
As Colin Fangistonson, our current CEO, says “Everyone should have the right to express their inner capitalist and autocrat, they have the right to show their individuality through what they give and what they wear and what they don’t wear. Takischitt is the corporation for the individual to say to the world ‘Look at me! I’m better than you!’ and smile whilst they do it.”
Takischitt is now involved in high level deals with many production companies in China and the Far East, talking to Nike, Apple and Amazon and getting tips regarding effective hiring practices and HR policies. Takischitt will be shipping very good value products with winning designs shortly after securing these manufacturing facilities. The future looks bright for this evergreen company and we look forward to sharing our vision with the world.
Of course – non of the above is anyway true, but hopefully only the most determined of visitors to the site and our biggest fans have read this far…
We’re a small company based in Southern UK who put out pro-diversity, fun and outrageous posters. Why? Well, why not!
We were established in 1997, when we launched the Takischitt Colour Chart on an unsuspecting world. We expected to sell a few, but we amazed every single teacher we’d had and several skeptical relations when to our own astonishment the poster went on to sell 100,000+ copies, and was added to the V&A’s permananet collection. WOOOHHOOO!
We then went on to create 12 more fun, silly and outrageous posters that were guaranteed to “split the room”. We then went on to produce a “metric fuck-ton of silly novelty goods” for Paladone and others, and had several smash hits including the Girlfriend Remote Control. Yes, that was us!
